Visitor's Visa

A South African visitor's visa is a temporary residence permit that allows foreign nationals to enter and stay in South Africa for tourism, leisure, business meetings, or visiting family and friends. This visa is designed for short-term stays and does not permit the holder to work, study, or engage in any income-generating activities in South Africa.

 

Types of Visitor's Visas:

  • For holiday and leisure travel

  • Sightseeing and recreational activities

  • Maximum stay: Usually 90 days (may vary by nationality)

 

Business Visa:

  • For business meetings, conferences, and consultations

  • Contract negotiations and market research

  • Maximum stay: Usually 90 days

 

Medical Treatment Visa:

  • For receiving medical treatment in South Africa

  • Must be accompanied by medical reports and appointment confirmations

  • Duration depends on treatment requirements

 

Transit Visa:

  • For travelers passing through South Africa to another destination

  • Maximum stay: 24-48 hours (airport transit)

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Hold a valid passport with at least 30 days validity beyond intended departure date

  • Have at least two blank pages in their passport for endorsements

  • Provide proof of sufficient funds for the duration of stay

  • Present a confirmed return or onward travel ticket

  • Have no criminal record or immigration violations

  • Meet health requirements (yellow fever vaccination may be required from certain countries)
